what is a kin?

this is not the best explanation of this subject, but i might as well leave some sort of explanation: "kinning" is the act of "seeing yourself" in something, wether it be a reincarnation, a deep bond or relatibility, or simply seeing another version of yourself, kinning can be taken something very lightly or very seriously depending on the person due to the term's flexibility.
There are also three main forms of kinning: fictionkin, factkin, and otherkin. fiction kin is the most infamous, it is to kin a fictional character, said character can be from any piece of media, examples being Zim from invader Zim or Luffy from One piece. the second is factkin, which is to kin a real-life person, usually this is in the form of reincarnation and the kin being already dead, examples being marilyn monroe or David Bowie. the final is otherkin, otherkin is sometimes overlapped with being a "therian", although whatever term someone uses is up to the person themself, an otherkin is to kin something from the world, wether it be an animal like a goat or tiger, or even an inanimate object like a computer or doll, which differirates from therians, who are specifically animal only.
Personally, i view my kins as either being an incredibly deep bond or even an extension of myself, i do not have any factkins due to my belief that if i was reincarnated from someone on this earth, it would be incredibly unlikely that i would ever know of them today.

Drowzee
one of my main kins, as a drowzee i imagine myself with a second pair of smaller ears, a short stubby tail, red eyes, and a red collar, i believe i was catched from the wild by a trainer who only battled as a hobby, and we lived on one of the more calmer towns and routes of the region, i have kinned Drowzee ever since i was a child.
Troll (Homestuck)
As a troll, i imagine myself as a either a gold-blood or olive-blood troll, i live isolated from other trolls and had a kismesis at one point, though for how long i do not know.

Nuka
My kinship with Nuka is more on the deep bond side, but i also feel as though i have lived through his experiances ever since i watched the lion king 2, he is an extension of myself and possibly a reincarnation of sorts, i am hoping in the future to get more merchandise of him or possibly the movie itself on DVD as a way to stay connected.
Sanji
one of my newest kins, i started kinning him around the beginning of 2024 (yet i only realised i did at the beginning of may), unfortunately i am a little ashamed to kin him due to how he treats women, especially later in the series post-timeskip, i think the live-action series was the best alignment to who he (and by extension, myself) is as a person.

Dave Strider
When i first started reading Homestuck around 2021, Dave was someone who resonated deeply with me despite our differing personalities, i feel a deep kinship with him as a result, i view him as an extension of the self.
Nepeta Leijon
Nepeta is seen as a reincarnation, as we are eerily similar at times and often feels like looking in a perfect mirror at times when reading her chapters.
